Johansen General Contracting is a Fully Licensed and Insured Residential and Commercial General Contracting provider with 24 years of professional experience. LEAD Certified, we are fully capable of doing lead removal in addition to our specialties which include masonry work, Residential/Commercial General Exterior Work, Interior Improvement Services and Handyman Services. Johansen General Contracting's humble origins started with its founder, John Johansen, who began working as a construction apprentice at the age of 16. By the age of 18, Mr. Johansen became a union carpenter and worked at the Newport Towers in Jersey City. His services involved building or repairing kitchen cabinets, trims, closets and doors. Hired them to replace the roof shingles. Throughout the process they were very professional. The work was done on schedule and with no extra costs. The quality of the work was also exceptional and to date there have been no problems with the shingles. Would definitely recommend them to family and friends.
We thought we could wait till after spring to get our flat roof redone, but our wet winter had other plans. Johansen Improvements were great to deal with and booked within 2 weeks notice. They were fast, cleaned up well and when our neighbors fence accidentally got damaged. they came out the next day to fix/repair it, no problem!
For me, painting is always very messy so I was worried about having people in my home to paint. Johansen Improvements put me at ease right away and they kept their work site perfect.
We have Johansen repair our porch and chimney stack. They were able to compliment the existing 48 year old brick and did a wonderful job. The workers were delightful, courteous and maticulus. I would definetly call for the next brick job!
Customer service was great - they took the time to meet with me and verify the quote and what is being done, and ensure my calls/concerns were addressed promptly. Painter showed up on time and finished at the agreed time frame. Was personable and answered any questions that I had. He also took the courtesy to ask (work was already done in that room) if I had wanted to remove a curtain rod, patch up the holes and touch up with paint (I had just moved in and wasn't sure if I wanted the curtain rods). Place was clean and tidy without any issues after the job.
it is a pretty good experience dealing with Johansen Improvements. I have a leak around my skylight and another leak in one of our bedrooms. Contacted couple of roofing companies and their solution is to either replace the whole roof or replace half of the roof. Contacted Johansen Improvements via email and got a response the next day. They came over and did a temporary fixed, and suggested a permanent fixed by re-installing the skylight. So far I am happy with what I see. I especially like the idea they took pictures of what was before, during the fix, and after. It helps me understand what exactly has been done.

I don't think most people understand the difference between a 'paint job' and a 'quality paint job'. I build & remodel homes and have seen many of my clients ruin the remodeling project by doing the painting themselves or by hiring a 'so-so' painter. Johansen is a quality painting contractor.
