- Ear InfectionsA friendly reminder about viruses in general...we do NOT treat viruses with antibiotics. Please plan on using the supportive care measures listed below in most cases. Under some circumstances, patients will develop a secondary infection ie ear infection. However, we do not treat to prevent these. We are always happy to check though!
- Family PracticeJennifer became interested in the medical field in 1998 when she would spend hours doing “ride-a-longs” on the ambulance with her husband, who was a paramedic. After deciding on nursing, she then went to California State University, Fresno where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, graduating in 2003. Jennifer spent most of her nursing career working in pediatrics, including 5 years at Valley Children’s Hospital. In addition, she also worked in the field of forensic nursing, the emergency department, and urgent care. In 2013 Jennifer graduated, again, from CSU Fresno with her Masters degree and became a nationally Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in pediatrics as a Nurse Practitioner since then, however, has also spent a little time working in family practice. Jennifer has a passion for helping her patients live a well-balanced lifestyle. The connections she makes with her pediatric patients and their families brings her great joy! She loves nothing more than a “Doc McStuffin” exam on a patient’s favorite stuffy or a session of peek-a-boo with an infant. Jennifer also recognizes that being a parent is the hardest job in the world! Taking the time to put a parent at ease or just be a set of ears to listen is also part of the job that she adores.
- Emergency CareWe are still seeing a lot of multiple different viruses going around. (Flu and RSV have passed). We are seeing some strep throat, however most of the "sore throats" have been viral. Continue to see high fevers that are lingering for 4-7 days, congestion, awful sounding cough, headaches, sore throat, tummy aches etc. There have been some tummy viruses going around, causing diarrhea and vomiting. We highly recommend that unless your child is having difficulty breathing, dehydrated, or is an infant under 3 months that you try to avoid the Emergency Room. Use the guidelines below and reach out to us as needed!
- Diarrhea
- ImmunizationsYour child should not only see the pediatrician for an illness; it is also important to schedule well-child-care exams regularly, beginning in infancy. Also called well-care visits or checkups, these routine examinations provide the best opportunity for the doctor to observe the progress of your child's physical and mental growth and development; to counsel and teach parents; to detect problems through screening tests; to provide immunizations, and to get to know one another.
