The Vienna Police Department is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It supports the Rape Aggression Defense System (R.A.D.), which is a program of self-defense tactics and techniques for women that provides training related to awareness, prevention, and risk reduction and avoidance. The Vienna Police Department employs a staff of more than 60 full-time sworn officers, civilians and community volunteers. The department has a special police team that serves as an auxiliary and assists the regular police force in emergency situations. The Vienna Police Department has been operational for over 50 years and is located in Vienna, Va.
