Established in 1956, Highland Elementary School is a part of the Riverside Unified School District. It has more than 800 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through six. The school offers academic classes in various subjects, including math, music, physical education, reading, speech and basic skills. It operates a science club, student council and parent-teacher association. The school organizes various extracurricular activities, such as book fairs, picture day, Red Ribbon Week and Halloween Parade. Its facility includes a computer lab, library, nearly 25 classrooms, and indoor and outdoor cafeteria. The school has a faculty of over 35 teachers and it also employs a psychologist, social worker, nurse, and speech, language, hearing and resource specialists.
