Dr. Witherington is the most understanding and caring ophthalmologist I have ever been to. I was definitely blessed to be introduced to him and his staff by the Lions Club. I remember on one occasion I woke up on a Mother's Day morning to see my eyes looking all red. They were hurting, and I knew I would be upset and have discomfort all day. I took a chance on calling Dr. Witherington since he will even call you back on a weekend or anytime if you leave him a message. Approximately 5 years ago my husband came to see Dr. Witherington for a routine eye exam and glasses. He also wanted me to have my eyes checked, because I was having horrible headaches. Dr. Witherington examined me and told me that in 20 years he had never seen papilla edemas as bad as mine. He told me I had pseudo-tumor cerebri and reffered me to another physician, who confirmed the diagnosis. His initial diagnosis saved my life because my opening pressures for lumbar puncture were very high. I ended up with a lumbo-periotoneil shunt, and I will be on medication for a very long time. I also followed up him when the doctors wanted to an optic never fenestration, and sought his advice. He referred me to Bascon-Palmer Institute to be examined. I am doing very well and your diagnosis inspired me to live my best life. I am now a registered nurse in the Cape Coral Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
