Founded in 1961, Western Oaks Elementary School offers education to more than 700 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It conducts special classes in music, art, physical education, math and computer applications. The school also offers gifted and talented education and reading programs. Its staff includes teachers, speech therapists, reading specialists, facilitators, counselors and health assistants. The school operates a cafeteria that provides students with a variety of breakfast and lunch options. In addition, it has a library media center that offers online databases, grant opportunities, lesson plans and book lists. Located in Bethany, Okla., Western Oaks Elementary School is a part of Putnam City Schools, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools.
