Explore our website to see the many cost-saving applications for deep one-pass trenching machines.History of the CompanyDeWind began as a construction dewatering company in 1984. In 1990 we built our first deep one-pass trencher used for installing collection trenches, air sparging trenches, permeable reactive barriers and slurry walls. Please call us or email a request for references and details of some of our major projects.Description of the TechnologyOur construction method utilizes custom designed and manufactured deep one-pass trenchers and delivery systems for installations in unconsolidated soils and sediments. We build our trenchers in Michigan using both standard and proprietary components. The trencher is a track mounted vehicle that has a cutting boom that resembles a large chain saw. To our knowledge these are the deepest, most powerful unconsolidated soils trenchers available in North America. The trenchers have interchangeable cutting booms and can cut a nominal 14, 20, 26, or 36 inch wide trench and average depths of 20 feet to 35 feet and up to 50 feet for slurry walls. A laser-guided system allows precise depth control during installation. The horizontal pipes can be installed on grade as necessary.DeWind is committed to maintaining a safe and healthful work environment on all projects. Achieving an outstanding safety record for our clients is among our paramount goals. All DeWind employees are charged by management with promoting safety during fieldwork. Safety excellence will be accomplished through strong program management commitment, active employee involvement in the safety process, and timely communication through the chain-of-command. DeWind offers crews fully trained for work on hazardous waste sites. All operators and laborers are 40-hour OSHA trained with a current 8-hour refresher. We will operate under a Health and Safety Plan that is in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.120 and other OSHA requirements.
