      General Info

      Peninsula Hardwood Mulch, Inc. was founded by Larry and Anna Wilson in September 1987. We started on route 17 in Yorktown, at which time we did lawn care. In 1990 we started the tree care service and moved to our current location in Yorktown on Lakeside Drive. In 1991 we started making our own topsoil at our new location. 1996 was a busy year for us, as we purchased the property formally know as Sheldon Lumber. This added to our already expanding Yorktown location. By purchasing Sheldon Lumber, we were now able to start processing our own mulch! In 1996 we started to phase out of the lawn care and tree care services because we felt it was unfair to compete with our wholesale customers. In this time the Wilson's had realized that their passion was mulch, topsoil and plants to say the least. And in 2019 we opened our newest location in Gloucester.

      I love this place. Everyone is courteous and very helpful. I had to order yds of fertilizer and didn't know what type or how much I needed. They explained it extensively and after I got off the phone I felt like a lawn care expert. They also recommended Titan grass seeds. Before, my lawn was dirt and weeds and now it is a nice green golf course. I'll highly recommend this company to anyone.Keep up the good work.
