Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. Today my boyfriend placed an order over the phone. They told him 25 minutes. We live in Lancaster, so by the time I got there it was 45 minutes later. After 45 minutes they said I still had to wait an additional 20 minutes for mac and cheese. After 10 minutes of waiting from then, they come back and tell me I won't be getting the burnt ends I ordered because someone called after us asking for a whole pound of burnt ends and apparently their order was more important. They said they would replace the burnt ends with brisket. I asked if there was a price difference and she said yes. Turns out there is only a 50 cent difference but they didn't offer me anything for the inconvenience or the price change. So I requested that they give me 50 cents (in a very polite way). The lady I was deal with said "Seriously, 50 cents?". I said, well that is the price difference, it only makes sense. After her attitude, I got a hold of my boyfriend and he said to just cancel the order. So, I stood at the counter for 5 minutes while the man at the counter played on the phone and completely ignored me. I asked him if he was working the register and he said yes, without getting up from looking at his phone. At that point, I asked for my money back. Erica, the lady that felt the need to argue with me, took it very personally. I said very politely that I thought it was taking too long and since I am not getting what I ordered, I would rather cancel my order. She decided she would yell and cause a scene, hand me my money and in front of a crowded store tell me she was going to personally escort me out of the place. How embarrassing. Is that how you really treat your customers? I had every right to be upset with the service and ask for a refund without getting my food for over an hour of waiting and not getting what I ordered. I didn't raise my voice or act inappropriately, yet she felt the need to personally ESCORT me out. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK, and I will make sure anyone that I know also NEVER goes there. Never have I ever experienced this horrible customer service. Their food is NOT good enough to act that way.

I must say as a catering/owner my self This was a good BBQ place to eat.. I will also say that the true BBQ masters are like grandmothers cooking, dieing out! so if you get a chance check them out and check out the small owners of BBQ's because chances are you will get some great tasting food and that you may not ever taste again. From Mr. Piggles Roasts to You Guys.. I say well done and can't wait to see whats you roasting next, vantastic Roasting!

I have had lunch here multiple times and everything has been great! This is the type of "joint" that you will want to tell everyone about and make a regular stop. The pork melts in your mouth, the ribs are actually meaty and tender, not fatty like so many other restaurant's ribs are like. They have multiple sauces to choose from and the sides have all been great as well.

General Info
Hello, Welcome to Big Lou's BBQ, home of the GREATEST RIBS in YORK. Before I begin on how we came to be and got started in the fine art of southern smoke BBQ, let me first tell you who we are. I am Louis Smith Sr.,co-owner of Big Lou's BBQ, and my partners are Erika Vellon and James Hamm. We are all natives of York, Pa. and graduates of William Penn Senior High. After graduating from William Penn I served in the U.S. Army. James served in the U.S. Navy. During the time that I server in the U.S. Army, I was deployed during Operation Desert Shield, Desert Storm as a Combat Engineer. Also while in the U.S. Army, I learned about southern BBQ from many friends from the south. Which is time and patience and wonderful rubs. Now after serving in the military, I was employed as a Barber, a Brick Molder (Glen Gery Corp), a Flux Wire Rewinder (ESAB), and a Mech. Assembler (Harley-Davidson). During these times of employment I always had the passion to cook and please others pallets. That’s when I brought forth my BBQ skills, and commenced cooking for friends and family. That’s when I first found out how good my BBQ was, as the guest raved on and on, and time and time again. So we took a leap and hired Scott Hess owner of Hess Ornaments in Dallastown, Pa. to help us build a smoker. Once laid-off from Harley-Davidson we took to the streets and began selling great BBQ, for two summers. Where we did exceptionally well and brought us to our current location, (111 E. Princess St. , York, Pa). Where we have now perfected what we do, which is great southern BBQ. We consider our style to be more of a Kansas City and Memphis BBQ. With a sweet tomato base sauce and a Memphis style dry rub. We also carry a Carolina style BBQ, which is a vinegar base sauce. Our BBQ has become one of the best BBQ that York has to offer. Numerous of people from many different regions have really come to enjoy and Love our BBQ. Even though I am born and raised in the north I Love the southern ways and bringing just a piece of that to York is what I’m doing. Dedicated to my friend Big Daddy, and hope to see you soon. Cause if you’re tired of that BBQ up the street, where they give you more sauce than they got meat, come on down to BIG LOU”S BBQ and get pleasantly full. Thank You Immensely, BIG LOU and STAFF
