I am, for the most part, a self-taught cook/chef. I have been cooking since I was about 11 years old, when I got my first job in a small town cafe in Fairmont, Nebraska. Thanking and giving a lot of credit to the owners mother, I was trained in line and short order cooking and waiting tables. I took Home-Ec all of my high school years and while going to college, I took a basic cake decorating course, decorating cakes for people to supplement my income while raising my daughter as a single parent.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of restaurant and fast food chains, either cooking, serving, or supervising, where I have gained even more knowledge for my skills in the food business. I may not be a "big-time" caterer/chef, but I feel that I can do a great job as long as I have the proper resources. I have been cooking for my family ever since I can remember.
I have catered three of our five daughters' weddings, so as you can see that is enough stress in itself by doing the catering and everything else that is involved with a daughter's wedding.
