George T. Schirripa, M.D. is a board-certified anterior segment ophthalmologist from Yonkers, New York who specializes in complex cataract surgery and comprehensive ophthalmology. He was the first ophthalmologist to perform small incision cataract surgery using phacoemulsification at St. Johns Riverside Hospital in Westchester NY. For 15 years, Dr. Schirripa taught cataract surgery to resident ophthalmologists at Westchester Medical Center as an associate clinical instructor. Dr. Schirripa also has extensive experience in the use of premium intraocular lenses, including Tecnis® multifocal lens, Restor® multifocal lens and Toric lenses. His goal is to allow his cataract patients the opportunity to surgically achieve a life with little or no dependence on corrective eyewear. In addition to his cataract skills, Dr. Schirripa focuses on the care of patients who have glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. He received his medical degree from the University of Buffalo, School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, continued his residency in Ophthalmology at Erie County Medical Center and has been in practice for more than 25 years. Dr. Schirripa has received the award of “Top Doctor in Ophthalmology” from Castle Connolly. He has also been recognized for exceptional bedside manner with patients, including the ‘Compassionate Doctor’ certification and the Patients’ Choice award. He speaks multiple languages including Spanish and Italian.
