The Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services (DFRES) serves the residents of Suffolk County, N.Y., and emergency responders who work to save lives and protect properties. It maintains an administration section that provides personnel and financial management, coordinates the deputy county fire coordinators program and operates the county's mobile fire rescue command post. Located in Yaphank, N.Y., the department also operates a fire marshals office that performs code enforcement and inspections, fire investigations, public education and technical assistance to the fire and emergency management agencies of Suffolk. In addition, the Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services has a fire rescue communication section that is an enhanced 911 facility and handles fire and emergency calls and dispatching services.
