In the middle of Bucolic Florida, just past Howie-in-the Hills on Highway 48, you'll find Yalaha. Keep an eye on the left side of the road & before you will appear a painted building right out of Germany. A generous brick parking lot & people pulling in & out will guide you into a most innovative casual dining experience. It didn't take long for local German clubs to find the Yalaha Country Bakery. Its owner is Guenter Herold & his family. Guenter made his fortune in Germany but longed for a new life with less city & more country. He found that in Yalaha when he married his Florida born wife. Guenter's idea was to build a combination bakery/ school where he could teach young people how to bake superior breads & desserts & teach them to serve. He imported both a german oven & a master german baker & built a unique building to house them both. Unfortunately that idea clashed with local codes inspectors. But the bakery lives on & the results are magical. Come early. EVERYTHING sells out.
