Provided by YP.comI would like to add a current review here. My parent is a rehab resident here on the second floor, so this review refers to that. I think there are pros and cons to this facility as follows, and you should keep in mind that the cost is about 25 - 30 % higher than the average for our area.
Rooms are not well-maintained. In my parent's room the dresser, a/c panel, TV remote, wheelchair, blind and light fixture all have maintenance issues.
The staff, themselves, are quite good...but there are not enough of them. So, if the resident is able to take care of their own basic needs, all will be well. However, if you are placing a person with any special needs: dementia, alzheimers, mobility issues, you will not be satisfied. They are GROSSLY under-staffed. If you ring the call bell, it is likely there will be a 15 to 20 minute wait. If, for example, the resident needs to use the bathroom, or has some sort of emergency, this can be a serious problem. If you are expecting the resident will receive any companionship, be encouraged to participate in activities, or taken to them, or even just chatted with, this is very unlikely to happen.
Consider this, even at a kennel, when you board your pet, they have blocks of "play time." And you can pay for more. At Saunders House, where these are our PARENTS, spouses, etc. it is not even an option, and I have never seen it happen.

Could not have asked for a better rehab team. Everyone worked very hard to get my mother in law back on her feet. Nursing staff was attentive to her needs and she loved the food!!! Thank you very much for taking such good care of her.

Provided by YP.comSaunders House represents the finest the Greater Delaware Valley area has to offer in nursing home care. My mother has been admitted there twice. As a physician, I can't speak highly enough of the heathcare, the enviroment, the physical therapy and the patient activities.
Unfortunately, I can compare it to some very bad examples of nursing homes. There are too many places which would more appropriately be called patient warehouses rather than nursing homes.
The staff at Saunderss House closely attends to patients with wandering tendencies. Medical status needs receive prompt and caring attention. Saunders House is a model nursing care facility!

Provided by YP.comI am surprised by the rating below and felt that I had to weigh in. My dad stayed at Saunders House at the end of last year and I couldn't have been happier. I have been at other skilled nursing homes in the past and Saunders House is miles above the rest. The nurses and nurse's aids were very helpful, kind and answered the call bell in a reasonable amount of time. The therapy that my dad received allowe him to get back to the person he was before he fell. I like that Saunders House is so close to Lankeanu Hospital and my doctor highly recommended it. I would go there again - but hopefully my dad won't need to.
