- GlaucomaGlaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve and is the leading cause of blindness in the United States, especially for older people. However, loss of sight from glaucoma is preventable if you receive treatment early enough.
- OphthalmologyOphthalmology LTD is committed to being the providers of total eye care, which includes educating our patients. We hope you find this information about some of the most common eye disorders helpful and that you contact our team if you have any questions.
- Macular DegenerationThe retina doctors at Ophthalmology LTD have had special training in treating retinal conditions and diseases. They take great care in diagnosing and treating problems and diseases of the retina, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment.
- Laser Eye SurgeryCongratulations to our Eye Surgery Center for going above and beyond the minimum standards for outpatient care and successfully completing a rigorous 2-day survey to become an AAAHC accredited ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
- CataractsNot only is cataract treatment the most frequently performed surgery in the United States, it is also one of the most successful. More than 99% of patients who undergo cataract removal rank their vision as significantly improved. Drs. Hammer, Dierks, Eide, In't Veld, and West perform this highly effective procedure.
- Cataract SurgeryDuring the outpatient cataract procedure, our surgeons remove the clouded lens and implant an artificial replacement lens—either a standard monofocal lens or an advanced technology “lifestyle” lens—in its place. The procedure is performed in as little as fifteen minutes, and soon after the procedure you will be allowed to return home. Vision often improves immediately following cataract surgery, and recovery time is surprisingly short.
- Eye ExamIf your doctor suggests that your child needs an eye exam, a pediatric ophthalmologist, such as Dr. West, has the most comprehensive training and the greatest expertise in dealing with children and treating children's eye conditions.

- Diabetes Care
- ThyroidExcessive thyroid hormones associated with thyroid disease can damage the muscles and tissue around the eyelids and eye socket and cause the eyes to bulge. When the eyeball and the nerves that transmit images to the brain are affected, permanent vision damage can result.
- Diabetic RetinopathyThe retina functions much like the film in a camera, and when film is damaged, so is the picture. Our retinal specialists Drs. Geraets, Thomas, and Atchison offer comprehensive retinal exams and treatment to protect against diseases such as diabetic retinopathy that can damage your retina and vision.

- Eyelid Surgery
- BlepharoplastyDrooping of the upper eyelids is often caused by problems with the muscles that lift the eyelid. This condition, called “ptosis,” can make a person look older, but can also cause vision problems. Surgery to correct drooping of upper eyelids is called “blepharoplasty.”
- Cosmetic Surgery
- Skin CancerWhen a skin cancer develops on the eyelid, it must be removed, and this often entails the removal of some portion of the delicate eyelid structure. A skilled oculoplastic surgeon can often reconstruct the eyelid.
