      For over thirty-five (35) years, Wilfredo Talavera, M.D. has been a leader in Latino healthcare. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Diseases, Dr. Talavera is a seasoned academic practitioner. Past positions include Chief of Pulmonary Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center and Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan, and Chairman of the Department of Medicine, also at Cabrini. Dr. Talavera is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at his Alma Mater, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, in New York City. Featured in New York Magazine and Castle Connolly's "Best Doctors" of New York issue numerous times over ten years, Dr. Talavera is a noted asthma expert with approximately seventy (70) publications in peer reviewed journals. Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a New York City research and information firm, determines the rankings based on a regional peer-review survey that asks thousands of licensed physicians to nominate the physicians who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields. Dr. Talavera presently works with patients hailing from the metropolitan area and abroad in a private, bilingual practice, located in Manhattan and Queens in New York City. Most recently, he was elected to be featured in the 2014 New York Times Magazine edition of Super Doctors, where physicians are selected through a rigorous multi-step process based on factors of peer recognition and professional achievement.
