Stories of life in the house capture the enchanted lifestyles of an early 19th century shipping magnate and the early 20th century industrialist family who enjoyed the mansion as a summer home and beloved family gathering place. The elegant and spacious house is open to the public from June 1 - October 15 with guided tours and programs. Adjacent to the house is a restored historic garden. Part of the house is available for a unique vacation rental. Decorated with period antiques and all modern conveniences, the rental includes the original kitchen space and three Sortwell family bedrooms. A private tour comes with each rental.
