Hiawatha Broadband Communications provides high speed Internet, local and long distance telephone, cable television and video production services to residential and business customers in Winona and St. Charles, Minn., and dial-up Internet to southeastern Minnesota. HBC has a developed a fiber optic network that provides clearer cable television, faster Internet connections and more reliable telephone service. More than 40 percent of HBC is owned by area educational institutions and nonprofit organizations, including St. Mary's University of Minnesota, Winona State University and public and private elementary, junior high and high schools. HBC Channel 25 produces exclusive local newscasts Monday through Friday, covers local sporting events live, airs community special events live and creates local programs such as 'Spirit of Winona,' 'The Sports Buzz' and 'The Tech Show.'
