Provided by YPmobileI been eating at the Martin for more than 20 yrs service has gone down the drain and the food has gone down the toilet. You would think that on Valentine's Day they would have been at the top of there game but first Clam Chowder was lumpy thick like gravy with no seasoning. Salad was ok, beans tasted old, potatoes where bland and lumby. Husbands Lamb Shank was dry and bland. I had the Martin steak was all fat was suppose to have garlic on it had known but they loaded it with mushrooms that I didn't ask for. I ordered medium rare came out medium well totally brown. Couldn't get waitresses attention she never checked on us during dinner went to manager and he didn't care but said "We can't always get the right temperature." If a restaurant cant get right temperature should be cooking food. They didn't care about are meal being wrong just wanted there money.

Just had dinner. I was VERY reluctant but my husband really wanted to go. It was wonderful! Food was very good and you can choose your entree. Can't wait to go back next time we're passing through. Winnemucca's best restaurant for sure!

Provided by YPmobileThe sides were very good, simply prepared and good quality. I ordered liver and onions. I asked about the thickness of the liver because I wanted it cooked medium rare. I was told it was a thin slice but they could control the temperature. They tried twice and could not get it right. My wife had the lamb shank and thought it was like decent cafeteria food. My daughter and son-in-law ordered the pork chops medium and they arrived past well done.
In short, if you cannot deliver a piece of meat at the requested temperature, you should not be in the restaurant business.

Family style Bask cuisine is served at the Martin Hotel. The atmosphere is very friendly and the service is wonderful. We had three different waitresses stopping by to make sure we were happy. Come hungry, the food is wonderful and there is plenty of it. The side dishes are traditional Bask; tossed salad with Nevada dressing, bread & butter, glazed carrots, baked beans, garbanzo beans with chorizo, smashed red potatoes, fried potatoes, and soup (Clam chowder the day we went) and bread pudding along with your main dish (I had delicious salmon). The price was very reasonable and again, the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend The Martin Hotel to my friends who have occasion to stop and eat in Winnemucca. Even though it is called the Martin Hotel, I believe that it is only a restaurant these days. It is on the national historical register, having been in service since the late 1800s. I will definitely return. - Mapleton, UT - September 19, 2008
This is a wonderful Basque restaurant that serves home style meals. I had the braised lamb shank which was delicious. However, I was surprised by the "sides." They started off with a huge bowl of pea soup. You ladle until you are sated. Then comes a salad (also huge) and other nightly favorites. Also, with the meal comes a carafe of wine. It was a huge, delicious, meal. And the service was outstanding. They also allowed me to sample their beef tongue (which was not one of the offerings the night that I was there).
