- The Sedgwick County Department on Aging works to assist senior citizens and individuals with physical disabilities to maintain their choice of lifestyle through education, advocacy and services. Founded in 1980, the department is responsible for advocating efforts to preserve independence and improve the quality of life of senior citizens. The department also works to plan, manage and evaluate programs and services. The Sedgwick County Department on Aging is an agency that is responsible for administering federal, state and local funds allocated to provide programs and services that assure that adults are able to access the rights and benefits they need and deserve.
