1st sign of trouble when furnace failed to light. I discovered loose wire over 3 days of experimentation/watching pilot/burners. Electronic ignition OK by tying wire & house had heat. Showed this to Bob Stith tech. Tech discussed problem w/Stith & they IDd hole in my heat exch-replacement w/b $1200, new furnace w/b $1800. I did not believe them-tech assured me he did not damage it, but had to lock down furnace. No heat until a replacement was done. Tech tried to scare me re: high PPM/carbon monoxide. I asked tech to send Roger over to discuss options. Tech did not examine heat exch for damage, nor test for CO. Competitor arrived w/in hour & examined heat exch-he found no holes/cracks & zero PPM CO in furnace/ducts. Bad Electronic Ignition Control. Total: $350. 30 hrs later, Roger Stith has yet to contact me to discuss options. They presume I am ignorant woman willing to sit in cold until unbearable & in desperation fork over $1800 for unneeded furnace.
