Cooper Upper Elementary School, located in Westland, Mich., serves students in grades five and six. The school s academic curriculum includes mathematics, social studies, science and English. Its media center has a full-time media specialist who teaches and assists students with research and information literacy skills. The school s arts department offers classes in drawing, painting and clay modeling. It additionally provides classes in music, physical education, instructional technology and world languages. The school sponsors a summer camp, School-Age Child Care, which provides a variety of before- and after-school programs. The school has a library that has a collection of fiction and nonfiction books, encyclopedias and dictionaries.
