Founded in 1988, the Health Care District of Palm Beach County is an independent taxing district that provides a variety of health care services to more than of 300,000 residents of Palm Beach County in Florida. The district offers health coverage for low-income individuals. It also operates a School Health program that maintains clinics in over 170 public schools. The program has a staff of nearly 200 registered nurses that serves approximately 169,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The Health Care District of Palm Beach County s Trauma System provides rapid-response care for more than 3,000 traumatically injured patients every year. The Trauma System works in partnerships with the Delray Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center. The district offers acute care services at Glades General Hospital. The Health Care District of Palm Beach County additionally maintains Edward J. Healey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, which is a 190-plus-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility.
