West Nyack Elementary School is a part of Clarkstown Central School District, and serves students in grades kindergarten through five. Its academic curriculum includes math, science, social studies, and language arts, including listening skills, recognizing letters, sounds, comprehension, predicting story outcomes, proper sequencing in a story, rhyming words, and nursery rhymes. In addition to its core subjects, the school's curriculum also includes student course work in various areas, such as art, computer applications, foreign language, vocal and instrumental music, and physical and technology education. Its students participate in various sports, including baseball, basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, soccer, softball, tennis and track. Activities, clubs, sports are also offered to students, to enable them to learn social skills, and interact with small groups in a nonacademic setting.
