Easily one of my favorite stores in the area, Quality Electronics represents a dying breed of mom and pop shops that CAN still compete with their larger corporate brothers like Best Buy and Guitar Center. And the reason this place can complete is their great prices, and more importantly the depth of their service. When it comes to their repair abilities, I don't think I've met a technician more capable than Jacob. I mean, he not only explained everything he'd be doing to me; but he did a great job with my mixer, which was completely broken after multiple drinks spilled on it. Anyway after a new PCboard, and refurbishment from Quality, my Rane is pretty much like new and looking and working great.
Quality Electronics is like your favorite old uncle who everyone thinks is crazy, but you know deep down inside is the best. What at first seems to be a very weird mix of products, vinyls and other audio accessories turns out to be a really great spot for any and all audio equipment. Not only that, I can honestly say they may be the only trusty worthy spot in all of Los Angeles for equipment repair. I wouldn't trust my gear anywhere else pretty much. Their repair might be a little pricey but what repair isn't, if you want to repair your stuff you must be willing to pay the cost--otherwise just buy new gear.
There are few places that can match Quality Electronics when it comes to selection that is for SURE. they have a lot of obscure and random parts for technics turntables as well as a much bigger selection of needles and headshells than any other audio store in los angeles--easily. The one thing they don't have is the price to beat out places like guitar center and sam ashe, but what they lack they more than make up for in knowledge and selection. Not only that the staff here is always willing to make some sort of a deal, so this can be a great spot if you know what you're doing.
I don't always expect awesome service when visiting small businesses in the area, but sometimes the unexpected can be a pleasant surprise. So first some background, just a couple of weeks ago I finally got around to getting all the money to repair all my audio equipment so I took it all in to Quality Electronics...and we're talking a truckload of stuff. From some JBL eons and some American DJ Lights as well as my turntables...let me tell you, it was a lot of stuff... But honestly, Jacob who is the technician, had all of it ready in 4 days...read that 4 days. I left A LOT of equipment and they fixed it with extreme haste. Price was semi-high, but for the work they did--I honestly can't blame them. Good stuff.
If there's any one thing in life I take seriously it's my gear. And that's seriously one reason I don't shop at Best Buy or other big businesses, those people gouge aspiring artists without a single flinch. Mainly the reason I started coming to Quality was because I wanted to get away from the corporate stores that kept selling me everything at retail price. Quality electronics is great because you get a huge selection of new gear and equipment and you always have room to haggle with the owner...try doing that at Guitar Center. I will definitely keep coming here, I love the store and the people who work there.
I had a great experience here the other day. I was looking to repair my turntables which were both experiencing tracking problems and giving me strange sound output. I brought both tables into Quality Electronics after calling to make sure they could do the job. Their technician Jakob basically let me know what was going on with my tables and told me exactly what he'd be doing to fix it. After we went over the estimate, I browsed the store a bit before I left. They have a whole lot of audio gear inside this little store. Honestly, the outside of the store is misleading--judging by the amount of product they have inside this is most definitely not your average mom and pop shop. They did an awesome job on my tables, working perfect now. thanks joni!
