- Teeth Cleaning
- CrownsWhen performing a crown lengthening treatment, we will gently remove the excess tissue that is covering the crown of your tooth, but we will never go too far. Your gums protect the roots of your teeth from damage or decay, so we will be sure to create a healthy balance of gum-to-tooth ratio. This is made easy with our dental laser that uses gentle laser light to carefully remove the tissue without the need for scalpels or sutures. Most people are even able to receive their care without sedation because of how gentle the laser light can be.

- Gingivectomy and GingivoplastyWhenever soft tissue treatments need to be performed, we always approach them in a very gentle manner as these are very sensitive tissues. Our BIOLASE dental laser allows us to offer gentle soft tissue treatment for those that require a gingivectomy. This solution uses gentle laser light instead of scalpels to remove the gum tissue and cleanse disease from the mouth. Treatment is simple and quicker than traditional care, requiring no scalpels or sutures and with minimal bleeding. For those with dental fear or anxiety, laser dentistry is a great alternative, but we also offer soothing sedation options to help put you at ease.
- DenturesThe removal of many teeth at one time is quite different than the extraction of one or two teeth. Because the bone must be shaped and smoothed prior to the insertion of a denture, the following conditions may occur, all of which are considered normal...

We see patients for corrective jaw surgery as a result of facial trauma, natural birth defects or improper bone growth. With over 13 years offering advanced care to patients in the Washington, PA and surrounding areas, we strive to restore your quality of life and aesthetics with corrective jaw surgery.
- Flap SurgeryOur oral and maxillofacial surgeons will meet with you and your child to repair the cleft lip or palate in the most gentle, safe and natural-looking manner. We are on staff at several local hospitals and will work with your doctor to ensure that your child receives nothing but the best care. Our surgery of a cleft lip closes the separation and restores muscle function as well as bringing a normal shape back to the mouth. For cleft palate surgery, we will place a bone sample into the defect to allow for proper closure from the bone and soft tissues. Some of the surgical options may include a palatoplasty, jaw surgery and flap surgery.
- Maxillofacial SurgeryWhen a tooth is impacted, it is essentially “stuck” and unable to erupt out of the bone and gums in a proper manner. Two types of teeth are most commonly impacted: wisdom teeth and the upper canines (also known as the eye tooth). While these are the most common, other teeth can become impacted as they develop as well. At Western Pennsylvania & Ohio Valley Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, we work closely with your general dentist and orthodontist to save your teeth and guide them into a proper position. If your impacted teeth cannot be saved, we will often have to surgically remove them. In most cases, wisdom teeth are always removed as there is little room for them to grow in and the mouth functions just fine without them. The earlier we can identify an impacted tooth in a patient, the better the treatment success.
- Tooth ExtractionsAfter a tooth extraction, it’s important for a blood clot to form in order to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That’s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, place another gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.
- Ridge AugmentationWhen your jawline is uneven due to bone loss, it can create an aesthetic concern to your facial appearance as well as cause teeth to shift out of alignment. Ridge augmentation restores the deteriorated or damaged area to balance out your face and allow for implants to be placed in order to restore missing teeth.
- Bone GraftingMost people never consider the significance of their jawbone until it’s too late. The purpose of your jaw is to support your teeth so you can bite and chew, but when you are missing teeth, the bone no longer has a purpose and begins to deteriorate. When bone loss occurs, your jawline will thin, causing a sunken-in appearance, your surrounding teeth become loose or shift and you will be restricted from having dental implants placed to replace the teeth. Bone grafting is a modern treatment that allows our oral surgeons to rebuild your bone volume to a healthy level in order to save your oral health and allow for implants to be placed.
