      Since 1820, Elmwood has remained the crown jewel of style and sophistication of the "original" Washington with its eye-catching Italianate detailing and eclectic features. Now a privately owned residence operating as a luxury Bed & Breakfast Inn, Elmwood 1820 continues to share its beauty with people who were born to wander, find adventure, explore, and seek respite in the most unique and curious of places. Although Elmwood 1820 has ornate detailing, it's not a "period piece" decorated with unconventional and uncomfortable furnishings. It is a gracious home, embodying a very transitional, diverse style representative of its magnificent history, as well as the many adventures and world travels of its owners. There are four guest rooms: The Writer, The Painter, The Explorer, and The Romantic. Each representing characters inspiring the Innkeepers over the years; friends, family, and spirits making them the men they are today. All have modern comforts like Luxurious Robes and Plush Turkish Cotton Towels; Goose Down or Hypoallergenic Down Pillows and Duvet; Wi-Fi; American-Made Eco-Friendly Amenities; Turndown Service; Complimentary Sparkling or Still Water and Organic Snacks. They are havens with massive beds dressed in soft canopies, lit by sparkling chandeliers, and adorned with fresh-cut flowers.
