I really do like the Red Derby. I'm not sure if it's trying to be a faux-dive or a hipster bar or whatever, but I just see it as a laid back place with a cool style and cheap drinks. I came here for my friend's birthday celebration and we were able to take over the back room (the one with the pool table.) We played darts (available for 1$ and a photo ID), wrote on the walls with chalk, and played pool. I chugged PBRs, and at 3$ a pop they were a good deal (well, for DC - in KC PBRs are about 1$.) It wasn't that crowded when we first arrived around 10, but by the time I left it was wall to wall packed. The crowd seemed pretty 'normal' and diverse. I really like the derby and will be back soon!
