Freedom House is a U.S organization with branches across the world. It has an office in Connecticut Avenue, Washington D.C. It is a self-governing organization that monitors the evolvement of democracy and freedom all over the world. It was established in 1941 with the aim to encourage the global spread of freedom. It deals with human rights, rule of law, freedom of internet, civil society, religious freedom, elections, freedom of expression and rights of LGBTI communities. It mainly serves to bring about a democratic change and protect human rights through support, research and activity. The organization supports activists around the world in their endeavor to preserve basic human rights, facilitate free flow of information, and strengthen civil society.
