The last two reviews are out of line. The store is a business that has to offer merchandise that appeals to its clientele. Clothes Encounters has been consistent for 20 years. If the items these two women brought in were out of date or not the style that sells well for the store, then they wouldn't have been accepted. I have never had the experience they claim. It's a middle market shop across from Eastern Market, totally in with the neighborhood.

Just save yourself the aggravation and donate your clothing instead of giving them half of the profits if your items sell. Of course, that's only if they accept your stuff after being rude and condescending. The clothing that does get accepted is usually matronly, a little on the high-priced side, and very crowdedly packed in, which makes shopping very unpleasant and tedious.

Please do not give this store your business. The store owner is an extremely arrogant woman who apparently treats her customers horribly on a regular basis. Never have I been so shocked by the inexcusable and completely uncalled for rudeness of a complete stranger. This store is run by a terrible woman and certainly does not deserve to be in business.

This store has a great selection in high-retail apparel for a decent price. Most of the women are more than willing to help and are quite friendly. This review would be given five stars if I hadn't been so rudely checked out by a blond, stocky woman with short hair. Although I really liked the store, I don't think I will be returning my business anytime soon until I am treated like a VALUED customer.

I highly recommend this shop; excellent selection of ladies' clothes and accessories; with a friendly staff to assist when you request. One stop shopping; you can purchase clothes then check out the temporary Eastern Market facility for the freshes food in town, and on the weekends, buy antiques at the flea market in school playground.
