Kathryn M. Hatch, M.D., a native Bostonian, received her undergraduate education at Middlebury College followed by medical school at the University of Vermont, College of Medicine and an ophthalmology residency at New York University and The Manhattan, Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital. Dr Hatch received subspecialty training as a Corneal and Refractive Surgery fellow at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School, where she maintains hospital privileges as a member of the active medical staff. Dr. Hatch is experienced in all-laser refractive surgery including, LASIK and PRK, advanced techniques in corneal transplant surgery, cataract surgery and premium intraocular lens surgery as well as corneal crosslinking and Intacs (intrastromal coneal ring segments) for keratoconus. Having undergone PRK herself, Dr. Hatch is able to provide her patients with unique expertise and advice. Dr. Hatch also has experience in the treatment of ocular surface disease, corneal dystrophies and anterior segment reconstruction. She has advanced training in cataract surgery and the latest cutting-edge corneal transplanttion surgery procedures, including both full thickness penetrating keratoplasty and partial thickness transplant surgery, DSAEK (Descemet Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty) and DALK (Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratectomy). She also performs IEK (Intralase Enabled Keratoplasty) and IE-DALK (Intralase Enabled Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratectomy) and was the first eye surgeon in New England to perform IE-DALK. Dr. Hatch's research interests include refractive, cataract and corneal transplant surgery. She is a primary investigator in multiple areas of clinical investigation including corneal collagen cross-linking for treatment of keratoconus and microbial Keratitis, as well as the safety and efficacy of antibiotic usages for cataract and refractive surgery.
