Berney Elementary School offers educational programs to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It has a staff of more than 30 teachers and instructional assistants. The school administers accelerated reader, special education and gifted programs. Berney Elementary School offers classes in physical education, speech, communication, music, math and reading. It features a library, computer laboratory and resource room. It provides counseling services and is a part of Walla Walla Public Schools, which was founded in 1857 and operates various high, middle and elementary schools. The district also operates an alternative resource center and features curriculum, health and services, personnel, communication and transportation departments.
