I have been going to Freds for years I have bought several guns at Freds and have always received first class service

I found their range and other products to be overpriced and the service at the range to be less than desirable. Avoid Fred's like the plague!

They are sketchy at Fred's. I inquired about a transfer fee two months ago and was told it was $200.00 by one of their staff. His justification was "because there's lots of paperwork to do". Bull! Accordingly, I ended up going to Best Pawn in White Plains; their transfer fee is only $25.00 flat. My wife and I was in Fred's last weekend, 1/19/13 and overheard another staff member quote an older couple between $50-$150.00 transfer fee. When I asked how could that be and told him what I was quoted, the staff member was dismissive and hurriedly moved on. What was the reason for the discrepancy? Furthermore, why did the last staff member react that way? Either they are sketchy or there are different prices contingent upon your race. I failed to mention I am a minority. My account is totally true; I have not twisted any facts or taken any liberties with the truth. Stay away from this establishment.

I am a first time buyer of their products and was very pleased with the helpful staff in my handgun purchase. I do intend to return for my handgun needs and other supplies and western wear.
