I would give Maxine Chapman no stars if possible. Do not send your children there unless you want them to feel horrible about themselves and their bodies.

I studied at Maxine's for 6 years several years ago, and the environment was extremely abusive. I do not recommend that anyone sends their child there. The training is decent, but if you're willing to travel, you can find good training without the abuse. My sister still struggles with an eating disorder after years of being weighed by Maxine in the VRDC. I feel very strongly that children need to be protected from this environment. She will only stop hurting people if they stop sending their children there!

My son is in his 4th year of dance training at Maxine's and I remind him constantly of how fortunate he is to have this top quality dance training offered to him right here in his hometown! In fact, I have put off moving to another town until my son is done his training here! There is no other studio that offers what they offer here. The teachers are professional, enthusiastic, caring, and yes, sometimes strict but that goes with teaching the discipline of dance. Maxine's students learn dedication, discipline and determination that carries over into all aspects of their lives. These students are trained properly and whether they want to go on and dance professionally or pursue something else with their lives, they are more than prepared! I highly recommend sending your child here!!!
