- CrownsYour endodontist will clean the canals, seal them, and place a temporary filling in the tooth. After your endodontist completes retreatment, you will need to return to your dentist as soon as possible to have a new crown or other restoration placed on the tooth to protect and restore it to its full function.

- PulpotomyIf a primary tooth has extensive decay, or has been damaged by trauma, action may be needed to restore the integrity of the tooth and prevent infection from spreading to surrounding teeth. After a set of X-rays are taken, an endodontist will be able to assess the extent of the infection and recommend your treatment options. The less serious of these options is vital pulp therapy, also known as a pulpotomy.
- Root Canal TreatmentHowever, there are certain teeth that do not have a closed root tip, resulting in what is called an “open apex.” These teeth are not fully developed, and still need time to grow and gain strength. Open apex teeth cannot be treated with conventional root canals, as the tip of the root cannot be sealed in the same way. The two options available to save a tooth with an open apex are apexification and apexogenesis.
- ApicoectomyAlthough there are many surgical procedures that can be performed to save a tooth, the most common is called apicoectomy or root-end resection. When inflammation or infection persists in the bony area around the end of your tooth after a root canal procedure, your endodontist may have to perform an apicoectomy.
- DenturesOften, the only alternative to surgery is extraction of the tooth. The extracted tooth must then be replaced with an implant, bridge, or removable partial denture to restore chewing function and to prevent adjacent teeth from shifting. No matter how effective modern artificial tooth replacements are, nothing is as good as your natural tooth.

- Teeth WhiteningOver-the-counter teeth whitening products, and even professional teeth whitening procedures, are great at removing stains from the surface of the tooth, whether from foods, beverages, or some medications. But what about stains that hide deep within the tooth structure?
