Do your homework before taking your pet to this facility. My wife lost the case in court, but she left with her dignity. What did you leave with, Ms. Carp?? Not a good business move to not pay what you promised. Wouldn't it be better to pay and "let it go" or do you need the money that badly? Clearly, the owner of this kettle, Ms. Beth Carp, does not care about your pet. Her priority is money. Ms. Carp, only respond to this review if you feel guilty about the court case.

My dog was in an unprovoked attacked while at day camp. He had 9 puncture wounds and needed major surgery. The owner refuses to pay the bills because of her "contract" and will not provide the contact info for the dog owner. I was the one on Fox News. Then she had me arrested for carrying a picket sign and obstructing traffic. Out $1000

Dog Attacked

I want warn anyone and everyone not the bring yor do here. The owner Beth is a fraud and a liar. FOX29 NEWS DID A REPORT ON HER. I hope her business goes down the drain, my dog ingested a toy in her business' "care" when I left her there for a week. Beth offered to pay half the bill and did a completely 180 much like she did with the woman who's DOG WAS ATTACKED in the FOX 29 INVESTIGATION.

Bring your dog to a better facility

I would rather pay the extra money and know my dog is in good hands then go there. I think the owner is a moron. They charged me different prices the two times I went. The customers that go there she has known for a while so they somehow are devoted but I can guarantee new people won't be going there. Terrible business. I death with smarter people at a flea market

Most likely this is a friend of the other people because you can see it is written on the same day. Prices can change for a variety of reasons; if a dog becomes a regular daycare dog after boarding they get a reduced rate; if the person is military but I didn't know it originally there is a 10% discount; there is a discount for extended stays; etc. All the rates are on the website. New people have since come here so their "guarantee" about new people not coming obviously is in error. The writer and any and all of their friends and family are free to take their dogs wherever they want. Good luck to them.

Horrible business

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I think we all know who would write the review defending canine cottage. Most likely Beth herself or a worker. Who if they would stop writing reviews trying to defend themselves they may have paid attention to a dog swallowing a toy, while in THEIR care. People who are defending them without knowing the whole story is coming in blindly. The dog was dropped off completely fine and nothing wrong with her. The toy she swallowed they did not own, clearly it was canine cottages fault. Beth was not attacked. She is a liar and a fraud. She offered half of the vet bill the changed her mind. She could have just said our policy is our policy, sorry. But she acted like she cared about the dogs well being so she would help pay. Then made the family drive there on a working day to tell them she isn't paying. You can't defend someone when you know nothing about the situation. It's actually quite interesting to say the least, on how the dog was dropped off in perfect condition and then the last day of the week that she's there she gets sick right when she's ready to go home. So unless you left your dog there in perfect condition in there care and picked her up the last day after coming home from a trip, and now having to pay 4000 dollars for a surgery I suggest you stop talking about something unless its happened to you. Or better yet, keep bringing your dog there and learn the hard way. This review was to help people out so they don't have to pay for an "unfortunate" accident. I was talking to a few families who we recommended they bring their dogs to canine cottage and after we told them the story they said they would never step foot in that place. There daughter has a wedding and they were going to bring their two dogs there but they won't be now. I'm not talking about whoever wrote the kennel cough comment because that is different we all know your dog is never 100% protected from kennel cough. But this situation is utterly Beth's fault. She's a lowlife and scum. Her business is going to take a downfall.

I find it necessary to respond because neither me nor my staff wrote the review defending my business. I have enough happy and overly satisfied customers who know me and how passionate I am about the dogs that come here to do that. I welcome anyone who would like to hear the truth about what really happened to call me. Because we all know that there is always two sides to every story. Maliciously calling a person names and trying to ruin their reputation and business is childish and beyond low. I have 500+ customers who would disagree with what is being said. That should speak for itself. I welcome anyone to come by and visit my facility to see happy dogs having fun, and who receive care 24/7. Beth

Fantastic

I have been bringing my dogs to Canine Cottage for 2yrs now. In that 2yrs I have boarded them probably over 12 wks non-consecutively and the attend daycare 2 days a week. My lab has been going for this long and my gshp has been going for almost a year now (as he was a pup). Beth and her team take great care of the dogs. The place is spotless and the dogs are thrilled to be there as they get played with all day long. The attention they pay to the dogs whether beautiful, rainy, or snowy can't be compared. I've gotten pictures of the dogs while away which warns me. I wanted to address a couple neg reports I've read on here. Kennel cough - understand that the vaccine doesn't cover all forms. Kind of like the flu shot. If your dog gets it, which one of mine did, blaming the kennel is like blaming your neighbors kid for giving yours the flu. Dumb. As far as sending your dog home. I read that you told Beth about the new addition after you got there. She should have been told before and she would have told you what she needed to keep all dogs safe. When I got my second dog as a pup she helped me through the transition and what she needed to keep her cottage healthy. As far as the dog getting sick, it's unfortunate. Very. Your dog could have eaten that toy before it even got to the cottage. If Beth swore at your parents it would only be after being attacked, if at all.

Bottom line, this is an oasis for dogs. Truly one if a kind, and affordable. Your dog is on vacation as much as you are, which is a good thing. No 100 dogs running amok like at other kennels and your dog isn't getting played with 15mins a day, for a fee. Your dog is loved, well cared for, and happy to go there, and you will be happy you took them there. I am!

Degenerates

This is extremely long, but so worth reading. Saying this place is awful may be the best example of an understatement. I have taken my dog there numerous times and was sent home with him when I drove 30 minutes to get there because I had adopted a new dog and she was afraid my older dog could be sick from the new dog. I had told her the new dog had been with me for over 12 days and has been to the vet and had all his shots and was well taken care of. I was only trying to bring my older dog who would go there all the time. We walked in, he was so excited I had his lunch and he was ready to go. Then when I told her the exciting news of my new adopted dog she dismissed me and my dog. Not only was I aggravated that I had driven that far, I had to bring my dog all the way home and was an hour late to work, not to mention I did email her the night before to ask if it was okay that he come and she replied 'yes'. This example is the least of my problems with this place. Here is another long example. I had referred canine cottage to my mom, who also gave Beth a lot of business. She would bring her playful pup there during the week. She went to Florida to take my sister to college August 16th-23rd. My moms dog was there an entire week. When my mom dropped her off she was perfectly fine and happy and ready to play. Beth had called me Friday the 22nd because I was the emergency contact. She stated "you need to pick up Lola today because she's sick throwing up and we can't keep her in the kennel". Luckily my parents were back a day early and quickly drove their picked her up and payed Beth for the week. They bring her home and she's still vomiting at home, not eating or drinking water. My parents brought her to their vet Saturday who took and X-ray and saw something blocking her small intestine. They sent her to red bank animal hospital where they had to do an emergency surgery. They found it was a toy in her small intestine blocking her blood stream. She would eventually die if it was not removed. My parents spent $4000. In which Beth had originally offered to pay half of. My parents met with Beth today and totally switched it and said she would not pay for it and swore at my parents. Not only is she extremely unprofessional, she is all about money. If she cared about dogs she would have at least payed half. My parents weren't asking for much. They get home from a trip and have to get an emergency surgery on their dog who was in there care. She is the definition of a degenerate. I'm letting you all know so that this does not happen to you.

These are the same people who wrote the review that I responded to. Again, half truths are told. Regarding her new dog, she told me she had him only 7 or 8 days and that he was fighting with her other dog and asked me how long it would take for the 2 dogs to get along. She also said she may have made a mistake adopting the dog but doesn't want to take him back to the shelter. When she emailed me the night before about bringing her dog for daycare, who came occasionally, not "all the time," she did NOT tell me that she had gotten another dog from the shelter. Had she told me that, I would have advised her that she needed to wait at least until she had the new dog for 2 weeks. Regardless of vaccines given to dogs in shelters, they can still get kennel cough or have worms. It happened to another customer of mine who adopted a dog from a shelter. Within 2 weeks that dog had kennel cough and infected her other dog, even though the new dog had "all his shots" and was checked by a vet before leaving the shelter. My customers are glad that I am cautious about bringing in new dogs. I would think anyone would be and not complain about it and act like an adult. As for her mom's dog, I fit her in more times than not when she needed a spot for boarding because her daughter didn't want to take her because she was too much to handle. So, again, there are all half truths being told and I am more than happy to tell the other side of the story.

When we picked Bradley up he seemed very lethargic and was not himself. Finally a few days leater he started throwing up and coughing and the vet has diagnosed him with kennel cough. We are needless to say upset.

Can i give a half star? if so,...

Can i give a half star? if so, i would. Although her place appears warm and welcoming it is far from it! My pet left there w blisters on her feet, lots of discomfort and costly vet bills.. and despite all this, she did not return my calls after the initial time when I told her what happened. If someone cares about animals, they would want to make a change to make sure this doesn't happen again.. NOPE. And she still has the audacity to have my pets photos up despite my requests to have them removed!! WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!

Caring Owners, Clean Kennel

Carrie Ferris and her family are extremely devoted pet owners as well as respected local businesspeople. The two cats which died were the family's own beloved pets who passed away from terminal illnesses (non-infectious). I was very impressed by the cleanliness of this kennel and the size of the runs, a few of which are as large as horse stalls! I trust the owners because they are true animal lovers, and good people. This is a great place to board your cat or dog!!

Canine Cottage is fantastic

After reading the first review, it is important to set the record straight. This facility is run by caring professionals and we have been loyal customers for 5 years. Our dog can't wait to go there. He is walked and played with regularly. He climbs up to get behind the counter and get to the owner. This is remarkable given he is an older dog that was adopted and has many fear issues. We refer to Canine Cottage as "doggy camp" and he springs to his feet when he hears the phrase. The owners take a personal interest in their "guests" which is evident by the affection our dog and many others show them when they board there. The facility is beautiful and well kept. The hours of operation are convenient. We have referred this business to many of our friends and they too feel they are fantastic. So whoever had that issue in the first comment apparently has issues of their own. If you want your pet taken care of lovingly and thoughtfully, Canine Cottage is the place to go.

Be afraid - be VERY afraid!

This is the most horrible kennel I have ever had the misfortune to put my pet in. They have lost 2 cats in the last 5 months (dead). My pet needed medication and despite promises they never gave her any, my dog was stinking, they washed out the kennel while the dog was in it.

The two sisters who own the kennel are just terrible - you will regognise them by their red hair. They swore at me, threw my keys into the car park, told me to "get out of their country" (I am english) and told me I was ignorant for daring to complain about the state of my stressed out dog.

In addition for 2.5 days stay they charged $140 - $20 more than advertised. This kennel is nasty and run by thieves - I would stay away.

In response to copter family dated 6/29/08, this woman tried committing fraud by writing a bad check. We caught her on it, she got mad and that's why she made up this bad review.
