Specialties: Including but not limited to Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Depression, Cross Cultural Difficulties and Awareness, ADHD, Parenting Skills, Teen and Adolescent Concerns, Coping Skills, Positive Change, Bullying, Attachment Issues, Self-Esteem and Self-Worth, PTSD and Trauma, Substance Abuse, Interpersonal and Relational Conflicts, Marital and Relationship Matters, Anger Management, Stress Management, Women’s Issues, Grief and Loss, Eating Disorders, LGBTQ Community Struggles My counseling philosophy is rooted in the concept of establishing a safe space that is non-judgmental, where clients can heal and grow at their own pace. I work with each client to build a strong therapeutic alliance utilizing empathetic dialogue, to develop a unique therapeutic plan that is shaped by each client’s own personal needs and goals. Within this framework and within an environment of compassion and tolerance, I make sure that my clients feel heard and respected, and that we act as joint participants in their therapeutic journey. I am conversant with several techniques that we can try to promote positive change, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths Based Methods, and Play Therapy. I received my master’s degree in Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University and my bachelors in Psychology from Lake Forest College. Prior to matriculating at LFC, I spent many years raising three kids and living abroad. As such, I have a unique perspective about cross-cultural issues, including isolation, depression, anxiety, interpersonal conflicts, as well as issues facing parents and children. I also have worked with young children and teens suffering from trauma and abuse who also struggle with issues of family detachment, anger, and low self-esteem.
