Founded in 1976, St. Joseph Center is a multifaceted social service agency that serves poor families and individuals. The center offers more than 10 welfare programs at over seven locations. It serves low-income families and individuals with programs, including culinary training and food pantry systems. Additionally, the center offers transitional and permanent housing. St. Joseph Center also provides individuals suffering from mental illness and substance abuse with representative payee services and ongoing financial counseling. In addition, it employs nearly 100 people and has a team of more than 400 volunteers who work for it annually. St. Joseph Center maintains its headquarters in Venice, Calif.
