They are involved in research and education and also have a tremendous amount of hands-on experience. Either through advanced fellowship training or through years of clinical experience, primary care sports medicine physicians have learned the skills to take care of athletes of all ages, sports and levels of competition. Some of them serve as team physicians to professional sports teams or are personal physicians to elite level athletes. - General SurgeryDr. Erfanian grew up in Orange County, California. He obtained his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from UC Irvine graduating Cum Laude. He went on to UCLA receiving his master's degree in electrical engineering before obtaining his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Erfanian is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency in general surgery at Brown University and in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Because of his special interest in the treatment of hand and wrist disorders, Dr. Erfanian completed a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Southern California.
