Excellent service, Steve came the same day and all repairs were done in our house the same day. Prices were super great, I will definitely use his company next time. Its a businesses like this, that make a difference in our community.
I called a bunch of places and finally settled on Home Appliances Repair, mostly because the estimate cost of $35 was much cheaper than other places which charged $49-$75. Most of the other places said the estimate costs were creditable against the cost of repair, but it's a risk b/c most places won't give you an estimate over the phone, and you don't know if you're overpaying until you get an estimate. So $35 was not a steep price to pay, and I felt I could walk away if the repair costs seemed exorbitant. Anyway, Steve the owner was great--I called him, and he said I could give him the Yelp voucher over the phone ($10 off $20, which made the estimate only $25 instead of $35) rather than to the technician since I wasn't home for the repair (my tenant resides at the house and I as the owner would be paying the bill). He also said he would honor the 20% off labor deal off Yelp in addition to the $10 off deal even though he said the offers couldn't be combined, but he would make a one-time exception. They got me an appointment the next day, and also called the tenant 30 minutes before arrival. I got a call from the technician who explained exactly what was wrong (the check valve wasn't working on the Miele dishwasher so the water wasn't draining properly) and told me how much, which sounded totally reasonable. He was able to fix it on the spot, and my tenant is happy the dishwasher is running great. There's also a 30day warranty on labor and 90 days on parts. With the discount, my total was $214 for parts and labor, which was a relief to me, given that some places charge you $110 just to come out to give a diagnostic, before any labor or parts charges. And with the Yelp deal, $25 for an estimate is a totally reasonable outlay you can walk awat from (but if you like the price of the repair, it's credited back to when you pay for the repair.) Steve rocks--ask for him as he will work with you.
