LARC, also known as Lowndes Association for Retarded Citizens, founded in 1970, is a private, nonprofit organization that provides various services to people with developmental disabilities. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and serves more than 150 consumers. The organization offers a range of services, including advocacy and community education, job placement, recreational activities, housing assistance and transportation. It also provides an independent living option, job coaching and support, personal and family support and transition planning into adult life. In addition, the organization participates in a variety of events and exhibitions. It is located in Valdosta, Ga.
