Dewar Elementary School serves more than 850 students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school has a staff of over 100 full-time certified teachers that provides academic classes in English, math, reading, basic skills, physical education and social studies. It offers lunch and bus transportation services to the students. The school maintains a parent-teacher organization that provides support and assistance to the school and students. It has a counseling department that assists students on various topics that include friendship and social skills, family issues, grief, self-esteem, anger management, drug abuse prevention, social skills training and career education. Dewar Elementary School is affiliated with Lowndes County Schools and is located in Valdosta, Ga.
