I've been to the Machine Shed a few times, and I have never left hungry. The Double Iowa Chop is enough for a family of four, although unfortunately I usually eat it by myself. I'm not sure the food is anything really special, but it's good, well seasoned, and pretty cheap for those on a per diem or fixed budget. Service can be spotty.
Portions are very large, so bring your appetite. Theme of the restaurant is Iowa country cooking with mason jars for drinking glasses and the familiar red and white checkered table cloth.

- In 1978, we opened our first Machine Shed Restaurant on the outskirts of Davenport, Iowa. We had just 100 seats, but we started with a powerful commitment. That was a five-word constitution: “Dedicated to the American Farmer.” That dedication meant we worked hard to have a restaurant that wasn’t just ‘farm themed’ but something that farmers could be proud of.
