Founded in 1965, Prairie Elementary School serves educational needs of more than 300 students and offers classes from grades kindergarten thorough five. The school offers instructions in science, language arts, English, mathematics, health education, computer science, social studies, arts and crafts, vocal and instrumental music, and physical education. It organizes various extracurricular activities, such as geography and math clubs, Prairie peacemakers, peer tutoring, and various after school enrichment programs. The school has a fully equipped library that has a large collection of books on various topics. It also provides a variety of nutritious food items to students for breakfast and lunch. Located in Urbana, Ill., Prairie Elementary School operates under the Urbana School District 116.
