I've been using this company since 2004 when I moved into my home that uses oil for heat. Their service has been hit or miss and although they claim they offer :emergency" service-that's a lie. I try to be very frugal with the oil use so I may purchase oil 2-3 times a season ( on average). As the years progressed they get worse and worse. Last night we ran out of oil. I called this morning (8:12am) and was told to call back because they just got in and needed to "turn on the computer"; I called back at 9:13am to order 100 gallons of oil. I was told the following:
1) We can deliver on Monday (it is now THURSDAY with a snow storm pending);
2) If I was going to pay for a "Prime and start" they could possibly get out today-but since I wasn't asking for that service-delivery would be on Monday!
3) I was told that the other factor that prevented them from delivering today was that "because of my history"-meaning since I didn't buy oil every month like their other customers-I go to the back of the line. Why would I purchase oil if I didn't need it? Oil is not cheap.
4) I told him I was a single mother and had a grandchild living with me- he didn't care.
I called another company (Ferro Fuel-who I am not a customer of, but soon will be), and they scheduled a delivery first thing tomorrow morning!
Now that is service. If you aren't in dire need you can try this company but I wouldn't advise it. the service you get depends on how much money you are spending on them :(

Terrible customer service. I'm a contract customer and called on a Friday to request delivery because my gauge was almost on E. I was told no delivery before Monday. I called again on Saturday and asked if they would please come out because I wasn't sure if there was enough oil to make it to Monday. No delivery until Monday. 4am on Sunday morning I ran out of oil. So now my tank needs to be primed. Which means an extra $20 AND once again I have to be home to let them in. It's Monday at 12:30pm and I am STILL waiting for them to arrive. NO heat since Saturday night and the outside temp is around 30 degrees. Nice service. And here's the kicker! IF I get oil from any other provider, my one week old $165 service contract is voided. I will NOT be signing again with them.

I would strongly recommend against using this company for Fuel Oil. There are others out there with better customer service. I called October 16, 2009 for the current price and was told that they hadn't delivered oil to me since 2007 and then the girl on the line questioned if I had been buying oil from somebody else since 2007. This had nothing to do with my desire to buy 500 gallons of oil since I have 2 tanks that are dry. She told me there was a note that they were not allowed to sell me oil. I asked for an explanation and she said that's just the way it is. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and was put on hold for some time and she came back with the same reply and hung up on me. I tried to call back but she wouldn't talk and continued to hang up on me. O well. Guess they didn't want to sell 500 gallons at 2.349. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I would have at least expected the owner or manager of a small company to explain why this note was on my account. O well.

I've been using American for several years for my home heat oil and haven't found anyone with less expensive oil in the area.

Always one of the lowest prices and fantastic service. Switched to this company after the"huge" oil co. left me without heat for 3 days after calling.
