Have always loved this place... known Rick and Iris for 20 yrs. But, am PLEADING w/ all business owners: DO NOT MAKE YOUR PHONE REJECT PRIVATE CALLS!!! YOU are a business; your number is advertised. My number is a private home; my # is NOT advertised, nor to I care to share it involuntarily. KEEP YOUR NUMBER OPEN! We tried to order a platter/sandwiches for a large picnic...ended up calling elsewhere b/c of the phone situation. Also.. please take in spirit in which it's intended... Rick and Iris have ALWAYS been welcoming... Sadly, the next generation...not so much. The lady-in-waiting (who, I assume thinks she'll get the business eventually) is RUDE, impatient and presumptuous of her customer base. We usually don't stay and eat if she is there.

If one is looking for a downhome warm feeling with a friendly atomsphere then this is your place. People are on a first name basis with the locals and it is the area's hangout for the older generation, shooting the breeze on the front porch. In the back is a wonderful patio that overlooks the canal and the sound of frogs there can just lull you to sleep. The food is basic but rib sticking.
