Opened in 1988, Soleng Tom Elementary serves students in kindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes instruction in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally conducts visual literacy, Spanish, music and physical education classes. Soleng Tom Elementary also offers gifted and talented education. Its extracurricular programs include Odyssey of the Mind, Girl Scouts, and band, chess and orchestra clubs. The school s parent-teacher-student association organizes books fairs, family fun nights, staff-appreciation functions and other fundraising events. In addition, Soleng Tom Elementary employs counselors who provide guidance and support services to students, teachers and parents. The school also offers various before- and after-school enrichment programs. It is located in Tucson, Ariz., and is a part of the Tucson Unified School District.
