LPS Laboratories was started in 1961 with the introduction of LPS-1 greaseless lubricant. Since the first product LPS has added a wide range of products including LPS 2 Industrial-Strength, Lubricant and LPS 3 Heavy-Duty Rust Inhibitor all of which are designed to meet its customers' chemical needs. The LPS brand is recognized worldwide in the industrial, aviation, electrical and hardware trade channels as a premium product. LPS offers eight categories of high performance chemical products: electrical cleaners, industrial degreasers, lubricants and penetrants, corrosion inhibitors, greases, tapmatic cutting fluids, additional MRO products and hand towels and wipes. The company sells through distribution only. LPS has received product qualifications and recommendations from numerous major manufacturers. The company has products qualified by Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Boeing, Airbus, Allied Signal, Xerox, Kodak, U.S. Steel, Exxon, Johnson & Johnson, International Paper and Consolidated Paper among others. LPS products conform to U.S. Military specifications and the requirements of the U.S.D.A. for use in food processing operations. In 1999, Illinois Tool Works based in Glenview, Ill, acquired LPS.
