      Founded in 1952, Freeman Industries was established as a manufacturer and distributor of unique products for the food, specialty food, health food, pet food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and flavor manufacturing industries. The company has three primary products: Zein, Cozeen and VPP. Zein is a water-insoluble prolamine from corn gluten. It is unique in its ability to form odorless, tasteless, clear, hard and almost invisible edible films. Cozeen is a natural coating with moisture barrier properties. It is somewhat more hydrophobic than Zein film. Cozeen forms an elastic film around food particulates, which extends shelf-life and provides a nutritive, attractive coating. VPP is a result of blending Zein with polysaccharides to form a water dispersible powder. All of Freeman s products are available in natural colors. Freeman is headquartered in Tuckahoe, N.Y.
