Unfortunately there isn't a option of zero stars. I made the mistake of retaining Jay as my attorney in a open and shut custody case based on positive outcomes I had obtained using his father Jose Lopez. Apparently Jay missed all the genes from his father that would make him a good attorney. It is beyond me how Jay managed to make it through high school let alone collage and law school. I feel it is my responsibility as a father that has had the misfortune of being a part of the horrific family law arena to report to anyone in the same place seeking help through an attorney. JAY LOPEZ lacks literlly every skill required to be successful in a courtroom. His handling of my case forced me to report him to the Ohio State Board for malpractice and ethics violations. I've also hired another attorney and we have filed suit for recovery of fees. I will gladly be posting the successful results for all to see for both cases so Mr.Jay Lopez will be exposed for what he truly is. DO NOT HIRE THIS ATTORNEY!!!

I retained Jay Lopez towards the end of 2013, paid a retainer and signed an agreement of representation with his firm (Lopez Severt, and Pratt) with him as my representing attorney. I then found that it was very difficult to communicate with Jay. I can't recall ever receiving a return telephone call from him, and after looking through my documentation I found only three instances where he sent replies to email messages that I initiated with him. His record keeping was sloppy (a yellow folder for my ENTIRE case), and no memory of facts from one meeting to the next. I was forced to terminate the service. His brother Justin then sued me in small claims court for billed time after termination. They provided false documents of service to the court which then allowed them to garnish wages for a judgement I knew nothing about. When telephoned requesting information, the receptionist hung up on me. Be very cautious and stay away from this guy and his firm.

We had Jay Lopez as our attorney very happy would recommend him

$3100 in debt. Jay skipped the first hearing. Then racked my bill up another $1800 before the next hearing date. At the courthouse he tells me that we should drop the case. Never saw a judge. Jay never refuses phone calls, but charged me $50 everytime i actually got to talk to him. Rip offs. Go somewhere else!

I went off recommendations for this firm and I am paying for it now! My case was a no brainer, a hands down when for me and I lost! Todd Severt was my lawyer... He told me the cost of my case and it quad tripled as the case went on. He kept back sliding on what I was saying... Kept forgetting important key parts of my case. Kept telling me this was how it was and kept asking me why I was still fighting for my rights in my case. He didn't care enough to make sure my case was done well and when I lost my case he didn't even call me to let me know and see what our next steps are.. So called and spoke my unhappiness and he hung on me stating he was going to disguise it with me! What? He's my lawyer and I'm paying for him to work for me and he doesn't want to disguise it with me. Even through the events I knew what might happen... I got screwed over ten times worse. Do not go to this lawyer!

I had heard good things about this firm, so I retained Jay Lopez . BIGGEST MISTAKE I could have made !! Once he gets your money, you can forget it !! Won't return any of your phone calls !!

Mr. Pratt Is an Excellent attorney. I highly recommend him.

This attorney does not keep his client informed of matters concerning his case. Never responds to phone and e-mail messages for weeks. Paperwork is never followed up on and submitted to other parties attorneys. He is handling a divorce case for a friend of mine, which is very important and life altering, and needs to put a little more effort into the clients rights.
